The Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Consortium, Inc. (“PediIBDC”) is dedicated to protecting the privacy of visitors to our website. It has adopted the following Privacy Policy governing its website.

Our website automatically collects information about the IP address, browser type, domain name, date and time of access and general location (country of access) of all visitors. Personal information is not collected on the PediIBDC website, except in instances where users voluntarily provide the PediIBDC with such information.

You provide the PediIBDC with personal information on a voluntary basis when you choose to subscribe to our e-newsletter, [register with us through the Educational Materials form, complete a Volunteer Network or Patient Registry form, make a donation, or register for PediIBDC conferences]. The PediIBDC respects the personal privacy of the visitors to our website. We believe keeping your information private and secure is very important. The PediIBDC undertakes to honor or exceed the legal requirements of medical/health information privacy that apply in the country and state where the website and clinical sites are located.

In general, the PediIBDC gathers information about users as a group, such as the pages visited and services used most frequently. This information is anonymous and the PediIBDC only uses such data in the aggregate to analyze site traffic for general promotional purposes, and for making decisions about the future strategy and direction of the website. The PediIBDC has a variety of reasons to study user demographics, interests and behavior based on the information volunteered, including to better identify information needs of children with inflammatory bowel diseases and to improve the services offered by the PediIBDC. The aggregated information may also be shared with third parties to promote PediIBDC services and the website, or to add to general knowledge concerning the need for pediatric inflammatory bowel disease education and treatment services.

The PediIBDC uses PGP encryption technology to protect your information and this information is always kept strictly confidential. If you have shared with us your credit card information to make a purchase or a donation, or other personal and/or medical information through the Volunteer Network, Patient Registry or Conference Registration forms, your information is stored on a secure server via SSL and is protected by firewalls. The PediIBDC will not share with third parties any personal information without your consent. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
The PediIBDC reserves the right to disclose or access account information when it has a good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary for compliance with any law.

We will not deliver targeted advertisements from others to you. We provide no mechanism for an advertiser to reach you, unless you sign up directly with an advertiser or outside vendor.

The PediIBDC sometimes contracts with outside vendors and business partners to fulfill customer services and hosting services for the website. When we do, we endeavor to work only with partners who adhere to a compatible privacy policy and/or to enter into confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements with vendors stating they will hold information received through our site confidential and will not sell or share user information to any third party or use the information for their own personal use.

The PediIBDC may disclose information to law enforcement and other authorities in the rare case when there is reason to believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) the PediIBDC’s rights or property, other users or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.
