A New Study on IBD and COVID-19

The Pediatric IBD Foundation is proud to support and sponsor:

A NEW RESEARCH STUDY at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center

Assessment of Exposure and Antibody Response to SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 among Children, Adolescents and Adults with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

The goal of this project is to better understand how the Corona virus affects children with IBD. The study will look at the clinical features and prevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) and COVID-19 disease among patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis in order to:

  1. educate and provide guidance to healthcare providers and patients both nationally and globally regarding the risk and safety of specific therapies
  2. identify risk factors for a more severe disease among children;
  3. understand the natural disease of COVID-19 by testing for antibody formation in order to guide healthcare providers in the management of patients who are on immunosuppressive therapies and decrease the risk of transmission at clinical centers;
  4. assess the protective status and long term durability of antibodies
The Pediatric IBD Foundation is supporting and sponsoring this very important study. 100% of your donation will go directly to support this important research. A generous donor has agreed to match the first $25,000 in donations.
